The Royal ThaTien Village

The Royal ThaTien Village review: Building A double and twin rooms, balcony outlooks, upstairs luggage and original guest observations.

EDITORIAL REVIEW · 612 words · 4 min read · Editorial date 13 November 2025

The Royal ThaTien Village is a small accommodation choice in the Wat Pho and Tha Tien area, with conventional private bedrooms rather than the extensive facilities of a river resort. Its practical attraction is the old-city address. Room labels distinguish a city outlook, a balcony and different bedding, so the selection deserves more attention than the broad promise of being near Bangkok’s major temples.

Inside this review

Read the Building A room description

The current listing includes Classic Double rooms with City View in Building A, Classic Double rooms with Balcony in Building A and Classic Twin rooms in Building A. Double and twin arrangements are not interchangeable, while a balcony is a separate feature from a city-view window. Travellers who need two individual beds should focus on the twin category rather than assume that any double can be converted.

Rooms are described with air conditioning, private bathrooms, wooden floors and television. Some listings also identify a refrigerator. This is a straightforward base for sleeping and returning between outings. A balcony does not by itself mean an uninterrupted river view: the room category and its photographs need to describe the outlook explicitly. A Wat Pho-facing room praised in one guest account cannot be treated as the view from all bedrooms.

Staying in this part of Bangkok

Tha Tien is on the old-city bank of the Chao Phraya. Wat Pho is the most natural focus for the stay, with the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew forming another part of an east-bank temple day. Reaching a site’s perimeter is different from reaching its open entrance, so arrange those visits around the entry information in the individual guides rather than the shortest line on a map.

Wat Arun sits across the water. Its proximity in photographs can be misleading if it leads to an assumption of a direct walk from the room. Plan a river crossing or a road route for the visit. The Royal ThaTien Village is therefore particularly useful for travellers whose programme is concentrated on this temple-and-river cluster. Wat Benchamabophit, Wat Traimit and Wat Paknam are separate outings from the hotel, rather than extensions of the same short neighbourhood walk.

Guest accounts show the scale of the service

An April 2026 guest account on Trip.com describes a comfortable bed, a warm shower, a small basket of provisions and help carrying heavy rucksacks upstairs after a long journey. The guest also liked the downstairs café and staff. This is useful evidence of personal assistance during that stay, but it is not confirmation of a lift or a guaranteed porter service at every arrival time.

An October 2025 guest described a simple but functional bathroom, air conditioning and a Wat Pho view from their room. The same account praised daily attention to the room. A separate April 2026 Tripadvisor account mentioned missing practical items such as a bedside table and large mirror. These comments concern individual rooms and expectations; together they suggest looking at the actual bedroom arrangement rather than assuming a standard large-hotel furniture package.

Who will appreciate this smaller base

This property suits independent travellers who expect to spend much of the day around the old city and want a private bathroom in a modest building. It is less compelling when a pool, extensive lounge space or a full hotel-service operation is the main reason to book. Those features should not be inferred from the word hotel or from nearby properties’ photographs.

For guests with heavy luggage or limited mobility, room floor and stair access are more consequential than decorative details. For a longer stay, the placement of bedside furniture and the balcony outlook may matter more than a general location score. The clearest case for The Royal ThaTien Village is a specific bedroom that meets those needs, paired with an itinerary genuinely centred on Wat Pho and the river.
