Inside this review
A river outlook is part of the room offer
The official rooms page describes the bedrooms and suites as facing the river, while the property overview identifies floor-to-ceiling windows and marble-clad bathrooms. The view can therefore be a reason to book an ordinary room rather than a feature available only in the highest suite. It does not establish that every floor or angle has an identical panorama.
Marriott distinguishes guest rooms from Junior River View Suites and larger suites. A suite is worth considering when a sitting area and a different layout are useful, rather than merely to obtain a river address. Someone comparing two offers should identify the exact room label, bedding and included benefits; the word Deluxe does not itself settle the age or finish of a particular allocated bedroom.
Treat Club access as a rate feature
The hotel presents a Sheraton Club Lounge with river views, refreshments and food service. Its descriptions connect lounge access with Club-level rooms and suites. A standard room booking should not be assumed to include that access just because the lounge appears in the hotel gallery. Breakfast in a Club offer and breakfast in a general restaurant may also be different arrangements.
For a party occupying several rooms, decide whether everyone needs the same lounge entitlement. A lower headline room price can be a less direct comparison if one offer includes Club benefits and another does not. This is particularly relevant to travellers who expect to spend an afternoon at the hotel rather than use it only as a place to sleep.
Guests disagree about the present room condition
A July 2026 Tripadvisor review by AWSL1980 describes five nights in a Deluxe Guest Room, appreciating its river outlook and the boat connections. Another July reviewer, Torben S, was strongly disappointed with the wear and cleanliness of three Deluxe rooms on a work trip. He also reported that his requested adjoining arrangement was not provided when one room required twin beds.
Those contrasting accounts should remain visible together. The positive river-view experience does not erase the room-condition complaint, and the complaint does not prove that every bedroom is identical. A traveller sensitive to dated interiors should examine recent photographs of the category being booked. A family needing communicating rooms should obtain a confirmed arrangement, rather than treat a room request as an agreed layout.
Pools and meals can make this a hotel-centred stay
The property lists resort-style pools, a fitness centre, tennis and garden space. These provide an alternative to leaving the hotel again immediately after a temple outing. They are distinct from the river itself: the Chao Phraya is the setting and transport corridor, not a guest swimming area.
The official dining pages identify several different venues, including Italian dining at Giorgio’s, Thai dining at Thara Thong and Siam Yacht Club. That variety can matter to a group with different meal preferences. A restaurant’s presence does not mean every venue opens continuously or that a room rate includes dinner; table and meal arrangements should follow the chosen venue.
A Si Phraya base rather than an MRT-front hotel
The address is on Charoen Krung Soi 30 beside the Si Phraya river area. Marriott advertises shuttle boats, and the July Deluxe guest found the riverside connections useful. The exact current destination and timetable should guide a day’s travel, because a hotel shuttle is not the same service as a public express boat and neither makes every temple a direct trip.
Royal Orchid is best shortlisted by guests who value a river-facing room and facilities within a substantial hotel. It needs a more cautious comparison when the newest interior finish, a guaranteed adjoining-room layout or immediate rail-station access is essential. Its strongest supported promise is the river relationship; the exact room and benefits still determine the stay.
