Inside this review
Rama III is the geographical decision
Marriott identifies the address as 372 Rama III Road, Bang Khlo, Bang Kho Laem. This is on the east side of the river downstream from the principal old-city temple sights, rather than among the west-bank Bangkok Noi guesthouses. The riverfront setting should not be mistaken for a direct pedestrian route to Wat Arun or Wat Paknam.
The official overview advertises complimentary shuttles to Terminal 21, Asiatique and Saphan Taksin BTS, with the concierge supplying schedules. These are specific connections, not an all-purpose temple transfer or a verified hotel-boat route. Montien is better understood as a road-and-shuttle base with a river view than as a temple-district walking base.
Room views do not determine the layout
The official accommodation page describes river views throughout its room collection and identifies Thai-style wooden furnishings. Deluxe Corner rooms have windows on two aspects, which is a more particular attraction than the broad river-facing claim. A corner room should not be assumed from a standard Deluxe reservation.
The same collection distinguishes larger family and named suites. Family Suites are described with two bedrooms and a living room, while the Queen Suite adds a lounge, two bedrooms and three bathrooms. Those arrangements differ substantially from choosing twin beds in one ordinary room. The suite names should be matched to the exact accommodation offered rather than inferred from a general family label.
For travellers comparing a lower category, Hotels.com lists Deluxe king or twin river-view rooms separately from Premier and Executive categories. The key choice is the actual sleeping and living arrangement, not a total-room-count claim that differs between booking pages.
An actual Deluxe Twin stay supports the food and service appeal
Agoda guest mark from Australia stayed three nights in August 2026 in a Deluxe Guest Room with two twin beds and a river view. In a review dated 25 August, he praised the welcome, room, breakfast and Thai restaurant. This is useful evidence tied to a named category and stay period, rather than only a general rating.
Marriott’s current overview separately identifies The Café, The Emperor and Saichol & Lounge Bar, with a garden-and-river setting for the latter. These descriptions give a clear reason to spend some time eating at the property. They do not mean breakfast or restaurant meals are included in every room rate, nor that a guest’s enthusiasm proves every dish will suit every diner.
The construction account needs its proper limits
Hotels.com guest Dan, reviewing on 18 September 2026, liked the clean room, helpful staff and breakfast but advised a higher floor to avoid construction noise. The positive and negative observations belong to the same stay. Presenting only the praise would miss a practical issue, while calling the whole property unusable would overstate what the guest said.
The extent, location and finish date of any present works are not established by that individual account. A higher floor was Dan’s suggestion, not a verified guarantee of silence. Someone planning daytime rest or a stay centred on the hotel’s leisure facilities has a concrete reason to ask which work areas and shared spaces may affect the booked dates.
When the downstream stay makes sense
Montien is most convincing when a substantial river-view room, time dining in the hotel and the Rama III area fit the itinerary. Its shuttle destinations may help connect the stay with wider Bangkok, but the temple circuit remains an onward outing. The location should be chosen deliberately rather than accepted because every riverfront address sounds interchangeable.
The available guest evidence supports considering the property for service and dining while investigating the construction issue. A family may value a correctly specified multi-bedroom suite; a couple may prefer a straightforward Deluxe river-view room. Both should judge the actual room and current surroundings, rather than assume a promotional photograph describes conditions throughout the building.
