EDITORIAL REVIEW · 657 words · 4 min read · Editorial date 1 March 2025

Montien Hotel Surawong Bangkok is a Silom–Surawong base rather than a Chinatown hotel. Its appeal for a temple itinerary is the connection with Sam Yan MRT and the Blue Line, combined with substantial rooms, an outdoor pool and a hotel restaurant with its own identity. The difference between a Deluxe Twin and a larger Premier Deluxe matters more here than the general label of a five-star stay.

Twin rooms have two double beds

The official Deluxe Twin is 30 square metres and has two double beds. That is a useful distinction for two friends who want separate beds without assuming that twin always means two narrow singles. Its room description includes a working desk, charging outlets and a large smart television, making the bedroom practical for more than sleeping between outings.

A Deluxe King uses the same listed 30-square-metre size with a large king bed. The choice is therefore primarily about bedding, rather than buying extra floor area by changing from twin to king. Occupancy still follows the particular booked offer: two double beds should not be treated as permission to add an unregistered family to a room advertised for two.

Inside this review

A larger category should solve a specific need

Premier King and Twin rooms are listed at 32 square metres. The Premier King description includes a soaking bathtub, so it gives a concrete reason to compare the bathroom as well as the small increase in room area. A guest who specifically wants a tub should verify it on the selected category instead of assuming it comes with every room photograph.

The Premier Deluxe Double-Double is substantially larger at 56 square metres, with two extra-large beds, a sitting area and a soaking bath. It is a different proposition from a 30-square-metre Deluxe Twin. The additional sitting space may matter to guests sharing for several nights, but the actual bed and occupancy offer still needs to fit the party.

Recent guests liked comfort without calling it the newest luxury

David’s verified Expedia review concerns seven nights in October 2026. He valued the spacious, comfortable room, gym, breakfast and attentive staff, while describing a hotel that retained an earlier era’s charm rather than Bangkok’s most extravagant finish. That gives a more specific expectation than simply promising modern luxury in every corner.

William, whose three-night stay was in July 2026, similarly praised the large bed, bathroom and helpful staff. A separate September 2026 reviewer liked the maintained property and location but found breakfast repetitive over a longer stay. These are individual experiences, so breakfast variety and service should not be presented as guaranteed outcomes; they do help explain the hotel’s attraction for a comfortable multi-night city base.

Use the pool and Ruenton as distinct facilities

The official Play page identifies the outdoor pool and gym on the third floor. This is an urban hotel pool rather than a riverside resort setting. It provides a useful reason to return to the hotel, without requiring a claim that a particular lounger or lane will always be available.

Ruenton is the hotel’s ground-floor Thai and Chinese restaurant in the North Wing. A hotel meal can be a separate part of the visit, especially for travellers interested in the restaurant rather than only the room. Breakfast inclusion and restaurant dining should be checked against the actual rate; the presence of an all-day restaurant does not make every meal complimentary.

Silom access, with a separate journey to the temples

The official access page identifies Sam Yan MRT and Sala Daeng BTS as the relevant rail stations. Sam Yan gives a Blue Line starting point for journeys towards Chinatown and the old city. This is useful for a traveller who wants Silom evenings while retaining rail options, but it is not the same as stepping out directly into Wat Traimit or a Rattanakosin temple courtyard.

Montien suits guests who want a conventional hotel with generous bedding, dining and a pool while choosing their temple visits as outings. Its roadside Surawong location and rail connections are the practical strengths. Travellers whose priority is a bedroom overlooking the Chao Phraya or walking immediately into Yaowarat should compare a different area, rather than expect this hotel to supply that setting.
