Inside this review
Low-rise grounds are the reason to consider it
Anantara’s official website places the resort within eleven acres of west-bank grounds and describes accommodation spread across three low-rise buildings. This is a meaningful difference from the adjacent Avani+ tower. The two properties should not be treated as one hotel with interchangeable room types and inclusions.
The resort format is attractive if the itinerary includes time at the property. A visitor whose days run from an early temple visit to a late dinner elsewhere may make less use of the gardens and balcony than someone deliberately building in a slower afternoon. The setting is a reason to stay, rather than proof of a short journey to the old city.
Deluxe, River View and Riverfront need separating
The official room collection lists Deluxe, Deluxe River View and Deluxe Riverfront rooms at thirty-eight square metres, each with a private balcony. The basic Deluxe is described with a city outlook, whereas Riverfront is presented as directly facing the Chao Phraya. Paying attention to that distinction is more useful than assuming the whole resort has the view in its leading photograph.
The dedicated Deluxe River View page describes a balcony and bathroom with rain shower and bath. Riverfront has its own direct-outlook description. These are category features, not a guarantee of the exact river angle or floor allocation for every reservation. A lower-floor balcony and a higher outlook may feel different even when the advertised category is the same.
Families should resolve the bedding, not infer it
The Family Suite is listed at forty-six square metres with a balcony and city or garden-oriented outlook. It is not simply a Riverfront room with an extra bed. The official family-suite narrative and room summary describe the additional bedding differently, so the precise sleeping configuration should be established for the offered suite.
That matters when comparing a family arrangement with a larger river-view suite. A category designed for children does not automatically provide separate bedrooms or the river panorama shown elsewhere. Guests paying for Kasara Executive privileges should also distinguish the included category or rate from the mere presence of a lounge in the resort.
Guests like the retreat, with practical reservations
A Trip.com Deluxe guest staying in July 2026 liked using the boat connection for a shopping outing. Another Agoda guest, reviewing a Deluxe Riverfront stay on 21 April 2026, appreciated the boats towards Sathorn but found the location less convenient for moving around Bangkok. These are compatible experiences: the boat can be enjoyable while the overall journey still takes planning.
A September 2026 Tripadvisor guest described bathroom fans failing in several rooms used by their party. This is a specific group experience rather than a diagnosis of every room at the resort. It is relevant for anyone sensitive to bathroom ventilation, especially when an attractive balcony might otherwise dominate the room decision.
A Hotels.com review dated 7 September 2026 praised cleanliness, staff and the shuttle service. That provides a positive counterpoint without cancelling the ventilation complaint. Room condition and the convenience of the hotel’s position are separate parts of the decision.
Who should accept the extra journey
Anantara Riverside is strongest for a traveller wanting a resort interlude within a Bangkok visit: garden space, a deliberate balcony choice and time to return between outings. It is less convincing if its main role is to minimise every trip to Wat Pho or the Grand Palace. Its west-bank river position is a setting, not a direct transfer to every temple.
Choose the room by its named outlook and sleeping arrangement, then judge the location against the planned days. The specific guest evidence supports enjoying the retreat while acknowledging transport and ventilation questions. Neither a blanket promise of tranquillity nor a blanket criticism of remoteness captures the decision as well.
